So I've figured out that no one will probably read these, but I feel like they're pretty cool.
So I am going to write a schizophrenic post to myself! From the future! I need to keep remembering this, and so do other people like me.
Hey There!
I know you want to be a champion.
I just wanted to tell you, to not look at yourself. I know you want to be strong and do stuff yourself. I know you want to protect your friends and family from everything bad. I know you want to win it all, but you can't. Or rather, I should say, you don't need to! Why? Because Jesus won it all for you already! Your trophies and your medals will one day be packed away into a box in the attic. And you won't care! I know your trophies and medals seem a lot to you right now, they are pretty and you have a lot of them! But you don't need them. All that you need, you already have!
I remember what my favorite Bible verse is. "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, it profits me nothing." 1 Corinthians 13. You speak with the tongues of men, your judges like your voice, you may even speak with the tongues of angels as well... but that doesn't matter. Why? Because you have love. Love who died on the cross. Love who placed himself in between you and a certain and sure death of pain. Love who stood in the gap and took blow after blow. Love that loved you. That's all you need.
There is so much more purpose than your medals and trophies. It doesn't matter if people call you a champion or even if people call you a novice! There's only one title that matters and you did not even earn it, but it was freely given. A title written in scarlet. A title dripping with blood. A title that proclaims the words in bold capitals: CHILD OF THE MOST HIGH GOD. That is the most priceless title that could ever exist. To try and earn yourself would degrade it's value. It's so priceless that it must be given for free. And the best part, is that once you have that title, no matter how stupid or idiotic you are, it's always yours. That's all that matters.
So, go ahead and keep working hard. Keep working towards a goal. Keep winning trophies and medals. But know, that in the grand scheme of things, that which is priceless is already yours.
"From Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved you and washed you from your sins in His own blood, and has made you a king and priest, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever." - Revelation 1:6
"For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ." - Galatians 3:26
Nothing will change you so that which was freely given can be taken away. You cannot work for something you already have.
You are already a King, a Priest, a Champion.
I am a King, a Priest, a Champion.
Love,
Michael.
